As a School Based Trainee (Early Childhood Education & Care), you will be based at Gwydir Daycare and Preschool and play an entry-level role supporting the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care.
You will provide hands-on assistance to educators, supporting children’s learning, wellbeing, and development within a nurturing and inclusive environment. This traineeship is a unique chance to gain foundational skills and demonstrate teamwork, reliability, and pride while representing Council.
What You’ll Do:
Actively work towards completing your Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Assist educators with daily routines, activities, and experiences that promote children’s development.
Contribute to maintaining a clean, organised, and safe learning environment.
Communicate respectfully and positively with children, families, and team members.
Support the delivery of quality education and care in line with the National Quality Standard

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Here’s what you need to be eligible and succeed in this awesome traineeship at Gwydir Daycare & Preschool!
You must be enrolled to start your Year 11 studies in 2026 at a Moree Shire–based high school.
You need satisfactory academic results that show you have the reading and math skills needed to complete the Cert III course work.
A genuine interest in Early Childhood Education and Care is a must, plus the commitment to complete the full Certificate III and the minimum 800 hours of paid training.
We're looking for students who are:

Organised: You can manage your time well and balance school, work, and training.
Team Players: You work well with others and know how to keep things confidential.
Safe & Supportive: You're willing to follow safe work practices and help create a friendly, inclusive environment focused on children.
If you're successful, here's what you'll need (or need to get):
Working with Children Check (WWCC): Required if you are 18 years or older.
You need a Class C/Learners/Provisional Licence. If you're under 16, you must be willing to get your Learners when you're eligible.
You'll need a current Childcare First Aid Certificate (HLTAID012) or be willing to get one right away.
Before starting the job, you will complete a few essential checks:
A pre-employment medical, which may include drug and alcohol testing.
Verification of your immunisation history (like Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus), and you'll need to keep this current while you work here.
