Job Description
Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Superintendent (Parks & Open Spaces) to lead the delivery of high-quality maintenance and beautification programs across our region’s open space network, including parks, sports fields, cemeteries, and village precincts. This is an exciting opportunity to make a visible impact on the community by leading a capable team, driving operational excellence, and enhancing the liveability and amenity of the Moree Plains.
What You’ll Do
Lead the day-to-day planning, organisation, and supervision of staff and contractors across Council’s Open Space Network.
Deliver routine maintenance, beautification, and project works safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
Oversee resource allocation including staff, contractors, plant, and materials to achieve operational goals.
Conduct asset inspections, audits, and implement corrective actions to maintain high-quality open spaces.
Manage budgets, monitor costs, and ensure procurement compliance with Council policy.
Promote a strong safety culture by leading WHS compliance and continuous improvement.
Mentor, train, and develop your team through clear direction, feedback, and performance reviews.
Engage professionally with stakeholders, ensuring community expectations are met and exceeded.

Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You’re a confident and capable leader who thrives in an operational environment and takes pride in delivering well-presented, functional, and safe public spaces. You know how to motivate and guide teams, balance priorities, and achieve high standards of service and compliance.
You will bring:
Certificate IV in Horticulture (or extensive relevant experience in open space or parks maintenance).
Proven experience supervising teams and contractors in parks, open spaces, or civil environments.
Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Sound knowledge of WHS requirements, plant operations, and maintenance practices.
Experience in budgeting, cost control, and resource management.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with a commitment to safety and quality outcomes.
Current NSW Class C Driver’s Licence and White Card.
Traffic Control certificates (TC, IMP, PWZ).
