Job Description
The Opportunity
Play a vital role in strengthening local road networks and improving connectivity across the region while operating specialised equipment to deliver safer, more durable roads.
Responsibilities include:
Safely and efficiently operate a stabiliser and associated plant to undertake road construction, rehabilitation and maintenance activities across the Moree Plains Shire.
Carry out routine pre-start inspections and preventative maintenance of plant and equipment, ensuring machinery is maintained in a safe, serviceable and operational condition.
Meet productivity targets and work within agreed timeframes to support the delivery of Council's road maintenance and construction program.
Immediately cease operating plant where a mechanical fault or defect is identified and promptly report all defects to the Workshop for assessment and repair.
Operate plant and equipment in accordance with Council's Safe Operating Procedures, relevant legislation and all Work Health and Safety requirements.
Liaise with and provide accurate and timely information to the Superintendent and Ganger regarding work progress, operational issues, plant performance and other matters affecting service delivery.
Assist in monitoring the quality of completed works and ensure work is undertaken in accordance with relevant specifications, work instructions and Council standards.
Ensure work tasks are carried out with minimal disruption to the community and maintain positive customer and stakeholder relationships.

Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You are an experienced and safety-focused Plant Operator who takes pride in operating machinery safely and efficiently. You are reliable, practical and enjoy working as part of a team to deliver quality road construction and maintenance outcomes.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
Experience safely operating a stabiliser and associated road construction or maintenance plant.
Good knowledge of plant operation, pre-start inspections and routine maintenance.
The ability to work with minimal supervision, show initiative and meet operational timeframes.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Practical literacy and numeracy skills to complete plant records, pre-starts, timesheets and other documentation.
A sound understanding of Work Health and Safety and safe work practices.
A current Class C Driver Licence and White Card.
