  • Permanent Full-Time  – 38 hours per week
  • Attractive salary ranging from $1,166.30 up to $1,337.85

Job Description

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the cleanliness, safety and presentation of Moree. You’ll operate and maintain Council’s street sweeper, keeping streets and public areas clean and well presented while working safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities include:

  • Safely and efficiently operate and maintain the street sweeper to keep the streets of Moree clean, safe and well presented.

  • Safe collection and disposal of hazardous materials.

  • The ability to be punctual and to work unsupervised in carrying out the duties of street sweeper operator. 

  • Ensure all plant and equipment is operated in a safe manner as per Council’s Safe Operations Procedures and comply with all safety procedures.  

  • To provide routine maintenance to the plant to ensure the maximum life of the plant and its accessories. 

  • To liaise with and provide accurate and timely information to the Superintendent and Ganger regarding progress with the work and other day to day issues of importance. 

  • Willingness to work a rotating roster which involves weekends, early mornings and on public holidays.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

As a Street Sweeper, you will bring a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills & experience operating plant and equipment to help keep the Moree Plains Shire clean, safe and well maintained.We are looking for someone who can work independently, self-motivated & can work a rotating roster.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture and/or relevant experience operating a street sweeper in a maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience safely operating and maintaining plant and equipment.
  • Ability to organise your workload, work with minimal supervision and contribute effectively within a team.
  • Ability to work efficiently, meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Sound literacy and numeracy skills to complete operational records and documentation.
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays.
