Job Description

At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for a motivated, analytical and detail-oriented professional to join our Design and Asset Systems team. If you are passionate about infrastructure, asset data and technology, and enjoy identifying opportunities to improve systems and processes, this is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future management of Council's assets.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Manager Design and Asset Systems, you will play a key role in managing and improving Council's asset management systems, asset registers and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This position supports informed decision-making, long-term asset planning and infrastructure investment through the provision of accurate, reliable and contemporary asset data.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and maintaining Council's asset management systems, including the Authority Asset Register and GIS platforms.
  • Developing and maintaining asset hierarchies, asset classes and associated infrastructure data across Council's diverse asset portfolio.
  • Coordinating asset data collection, inspections and condition assessment programs to support strategic asset management.
  • Identifying asset data gaps and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, integrity and accessibility.
  • Producing asset reports, mapping products and spatial information to support capital works planning, asset management planning and operational decision-making.
  • Maintaining and enhancing Council's GIS mapping layers and developing new mapping solutions to support projects and organisational requirements.
  • Supporting the ongoing development of asset management plans through the provision of robust data, analysis and technical expertise.
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders across Infrastructure, Finance and Information Services to ensure effective integration of asset, financial and spatial information systems.
  • Investigating and coordinating information relating to legal road status and road closure requests.
  • Driving innovation and continuous improvement across Council's asset systems, processes and technologies.

About You

You are a motivated and analytical professional who enjoys working with systems, data and technology to deliver practical outcomes. You have strong attention to detail, a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to support effective infrastructure asset management.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in either Business Administration, Project Management ,Civil Engineering or  Civil Construction AND/OR significant experience in the management of infrastructure assets.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Asset Management or a related field, or significant experience in the management of infrastructure assets and asset data systems.
  • Asset Management Expertise: Demonstrated experience maintaining asset registers, managing infrastructure asset data and supporting asset planning, reporting and decision-making processes.
  • Technical Literacy: Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications, asset management systems, GIS platforms and data analysis tools.
