  • Permanent Full-Time – 35 hours per week
  • $1,304.25 to $1,499.70 per week (+ Superannuation), depending on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience.
  • 12% Superannuation Contribution.

Job Description

Are you an organised, detail-minded administrative professional who thrives in a dynamic environment? Join our team at Moree Plains Shire Council and play a key role supporting local planning, compliance, environmental health, and community safety services.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Executive Assistant and Business Coordinator, you will provide vital administrative and operational support across Council’s Planning and Development Directorate.

  • Prepare, process, and issue accurate statutory notices, compliance orders, infringement documentation, and official correspondence.
  • Track regulatory service requests, maintain compliance registers, and monitor statutory timeframes in Council’s records management systems.
  • Assist public enquiries regarding regulatory, planning, and environmental health matters, providing accurate guidance or directing complex queries to specialist officers.
  • Provide administrative backup to planners, building surveyors, environmental health officers, rangers, and biosecurity staff.
  • Process invoices, purchase orders, regulatory fees, permits, and licencing documentation.

About You

You are a proactive, professional, and highly organized administrator who takes pride in accuracy and clear communication. You handle sensitive customer inquiries with tact and sound judgment, learn regulatory workflows quickly, and enjoy managing varied tasks. Whether coordinating statutory documentation or supporting field officers, you bring a solutions-oriented mindset to every task.

What You'll Be Bringing

  • Certificate III in Business Administration (or related discipline) or equivalent practical administrative experience.
  • Experience in regulatory, compliance, planning, building, environmental health, ranger services, or local government administration.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, records management systems, file administration, and draft correspondence preparation.
  • Ability to navigate, interpret, and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedural guidelines.
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and sound decision-making abilities under tight deadlines.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration.
  • Previous Local Government regulatory or customer service experience.
  • Current NSW Class C Driver Licence.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Pre-employment medical screening (which may include drug and alcohol testing).
