Job Description

At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for a results-oriented, collaborative, and composed supervisor to join our Risk & Customer Service division. If you are a professional and analytical leader who excels at driving service excellence while managing statutory corporate records, this is your opportunity to lead our primary points of contact for the community.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Manager Risk & Customer Service, you will provide overall leadership, coordination, and daily operational management of Council's multi-channel customer service and corporate records units. This vital role supervises a small, dedicated team (2x Customer Service Officers and 2x Records Officers) and balances frontline public relations with rigid statutory record-keeping compliance.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of the customer service and records teams, including approving weekly timesheets and coordinating staff rosters.
  • Establishing service levels, monitoring operational targets, and driving continuous improvement across Council's service delivery systems.
  • Handling front-line public relations and managing the primary escalation framework for complex enquiries, billing matters, and formal complaints.
  • Administering the Corporate Records Management System to maintain strict compliance with the New South Wales State Records Act and archival standards.
  • Formulating policy frameworks, process manuals, and user guides, while implementing training initiatives to build organisation-wide technical records capability.
  • Enforcing corporate governance and strict financial standards regarding front counter revenue collection and receipting systems.
  • Fostering collaborative internal channels to facilitate compliant public access to information requests under the GIPA Act.
  • Monitoring the allocated operational budget for the section in accordance with approved financial delegations.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

You are a self-motivated professional capable of making confident, independent decisions and effectively prioritizing workloads in a high-pressure, reactive environment. You possess advanced negotiation skills and a values-based approach to mentoring a multi-disciplinary team.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Qualifications & Experience: A Certificate IV in Business Administration, Customer Contact, Records and Archives, or a related discipline, combined with extensive supervisory experience in a multi-channel customer service or corporate records environment.
  • Workflow Proficiency: Demonstrated capability in coordinating complex administrative workflows while maintaining strict oversight of data accuracy and client-centred professionalism.
  • Technical Literacy: Advanced technical literacy across the Microsoft Office Suite and specialised corporate electronic databases to ensure systematic compliance.

Required Tickets, Licences and/or Qualifications:

  • There are no strict tickets listed as essential, but a Class C Driver's Licence is highly desirable.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous Local Government experience.
  • Practical experience using Civica Authority software.
  • Experience with Content Manager or equivalent electronic records management systems.

Required Clearances and Checks:

  • National Criminal History Check.
  • Pre-employment medical screening, which may include drug and alcohol testing.
