  • Permanent Full-Time Career Opportunity – 35 hours per week

Job Description

At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for a creative, motivated, and highly organised Events Manager. If you have a passion for stakeholder engagement and the drive to lead, plan and deliver high-quality events and experiences that showcase our region, we want to hear from you! 

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director Corporate & Community, you will be responsible for the management and activation of the Moree Memorial Hall as a premier community event venue. This dynamic role balances venue operations, event management with the delivery of a signature Moree Plains Shire event designed to strengthen community connection and support regional tourism.  

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing venue operations for the Moree Memorial Hall, ensuring the facility is professionally presented and effectively utilised.
  • Leading the planning and delivery of a signature Moree Plains event to promote the region and support economic activity.
  • Developing an annual activation calendar that aligns with Council's community, tourism, and economic objectives.
  • Building productive relationships with event organisers, performers, sponsors, tourism operators, and government agencies.
  • Coordinating event marketing and promotional activities to increase awareness and community participation.
  • Overseeing logistics and onsite operations, including the coordination of contractors, casual staff, and volunteers.
  • Managing administrative requirements such as bookings, ticketing, procurement, risk management, and work health and safety.
  • Preparing and managing budgets, sponsorship opportunities, and grant funding applications.

The location for this role is the Max Centre in Moree, with a requirement for flexible hours including evenings and weekends to meet event needs.

About You

You are a problem-solver who thrives in a dynamic operational environment. You possess exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities with a focus on delivering safe, professional, and high-quality outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Events Management, Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Business, or Community Development.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and delivering events, functions, or community initiatives.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet strict operational deadlines.
  • Proven ability to build productive relationships and communicate professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in budgeting, procurement, and risk management within a venue or event context.
  • A high level of initiative and adaptability.

Required Tickets, Licences and/or Qualifications:

  • Current Class C Driver's Licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working within Local Government, tourism, or the arts and entertainment sector.

Required Clearances and Checks:

  • NSW Working with Children Check.
  • Pre-employment medical, which may include drug and alcohol testing.
