At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for an analytical, rational, and communicative professional to join us as an Assistant Project Manager. If you have a high level of integrity and a passion for supporting the successful delivery of regional infrastructure, we want to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will support the planning, coordination, and delivery of Council's capital works programme. You will provide technical and administrative support across the project lifecycle while ensuring works are completed on time, within budget, and to high quality and safety standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting project planning and implementation while monitoring progress against agreed scope and milestones.
Directly undertaking the delivery of minor works projects under supervision.
Assisting with RFQ and tender documentation and tracking progress claims, variations, and purchase orders.
Assisting in the monitoring of project budgets, expenditure, and cashflow to ensure accurate financial data.
Reviewing design documentation and supporting the application of "safety in design" principles.
Supporting communication with consultants, contractors, funding bodies, and the community.
Assisting with commissioning, handover, and defect management processes to ensure assets are integrated into Council systems.
The location for this role is Moree and surrounds.
You are an adaptable, clear communicator who eats engineering blueprints for breakfast and thrives when juggling competing priorities under tight delivery schedules. You aren't rattled by unexpected site hiccups; instead, you bring a proactive work ethic and the sound judgement needed to solve problems on the fly.
To lock in this role, you’ll bring:
An Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field—backed by practical experience coordinating civil or commercial building projects.
Proven capabilities in interpreting complex technical drawings, tracking project variations, and mastering scheduling software (like MS Project).
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of writing crisp contractor correspondence and high-quality progress updates.
Required Tickets, Licences and/or Training:
Current NSW Class C Driver Licence.
General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Required Clearances and Checks:
National Criminal History Check.
Pre-employment medical screening (including drug, alcohol, and fitness-for-duty testing).
