Job Description
At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for a collaborative, adaptable, and initiative-driven Workforce Connector to join our Economic Development Team. If you are passionate about helping essential workers settle into our region and have a talent for building partnerships, we want to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Economic Development, you will support attraction and retention initiatives for key workers—including healthcare, education, childcare, and essential service personnel. This vital role provides a wrap-around welcome and settlement service, supporting newcomers from their initial interest through to successful regional integration.
Please note: This is a temporary position currently funded by the State Government, with the initial contract period extending up to January 2027.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Supporting newcomers to move and settle into the Moree Plains community.
Coordinating welcome events and social linking activities for new essential workers and their families.
Collaborating with major employers (health, police, education) and community groups to drive positive relocation experiences.
Developing marketing collateral promoting Moree Plains as both a career and lifestyle destination.
Establishing networking groups and welcome ambassador networks to foster local integration.
Facilitating workshops and roundtables focused on workforce, skills, and education.
Managing project milestones and reporting achievements to Council and external funding agencies.
Designing a transition plan or legacy piece to ensure the continuation of settlement activities beyond the contract period.
The location for this role is the Max Centre in Moree.
You are a customer-focused professional with exceptional "soft" skills and a deep understanding of regional community life. You thrive on building inclusive partnerships and using your initiative to design creative events.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
Diploma-level qualification in Marketing, Communications, Business, or Social Sciences (or relevant experience in Community Services).
Minimum three years’ experience in customer-facing roles.
Proven experience in designing and hosting inclusive events or workshops.
Ability to work autonomously and handle project pressure with initiative and creativity.
Strong organisational skills to manage time and prioritise diverse work requirements.
Advanced literacy and computer skills, with the ability to prepare complex project funding reports .
Required Tickets, Licences and/or Qualifications:
NSW Working with Children Check.
Class C/Provisional Driver's Licence.
Desirable Criteria:
Lived experience of moving to and adapting to a new regional community.
Experience using CRM tools like Salesforce.
Required Clearances and Checks:
National Criminal History Check.
Pre-employment medical, which may include drug and alcohol testing.
