Job Description
At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for a forward-thinking, analytical, and accountable leader to join our Infrastructure directorate as the Manager Depot, Plant & Logistics. This senior role is responsible for the strategic planning, asset management, and operational performance of Council’s depots, fleet, and logistical functions to maximise value for our community.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, you will lead a multidisciplinary team including Fleet, Stores, and Workshop specialists. You will ensure that all professional and operational activities align with Council's long-term goals while driving efficiency, safety, and sustainability across the Shire.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading and coordinating Depot, Plant, and Logistics functions, ensuring processes are effective and aligned with annual Business Plans.
Overseeing day-to-day Aerodrome operations, including maintenance planning, scheduling, and maintaining the currency of the Aerodrome Manual and Asset Management Plan .
Managing fleet and plant allocations, including the strategic sourcing of hired equipment to resource operational teams.
Developing long-term Asset Management Plans for depots and plant in collaboration with the Asset Systems team.
Overseeing the Workshop and Stores teams, providing direction on work scheduling, maintenance activities, and performance assessments.
Driving best practice in asset assessment, replacement, and maintenance through accurate record-keeping and data integration.
Leading grant applications and negotiations for associated infrastructure projects, ensuring cost-effective practices and industry quality standards.
Providing expert guidance on policy, risk mitigation, and Work Health & Safety, including active participation in regular Toolbox Meetings .
Fostering positive relationships with community members, Councillors, and external agencies (such as CASA) to ensure integrated planning

About You
You are a communicative and transparent professional with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to ethical, values-based leadership. You have the ability to mentor project managers and contractors while maintaining a sharp awareness of social and environmental considerations.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
Degree-level tertiary qualification in Engineering, Logistics, or Business Management (with Asset Management certifications or similar).
Extensive experience in Fleet, Stores, Depot, or Workshop management combined with a working knowledge of Integrated Planning.
Proven expertise in budget management and providing strong financial oversight to ensure cost control.
Developed experience in managing teams and critical projects, providing specialist guidance on complex operational matters.
Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent time-management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines with high accuracy.
Required Tickets, Licences and/or Qualifications:
General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
Current Class C Driver's Licence.
Desirable Criteria
Previous experience in airport operations.
Qualifications in Management and/or Team Leadership.
Previous Local Government experience.
Experience in Financial Modelling.
Required Clearances and Checks:
Working with Children Check.
Pre-employment medical, which may include drug and alcohol testing.
